I've known about EP's tendency toward a more serious nature practically since the day she was born. Even as an infant, she'd x-ray you with her "old soul" eyes... LB's personality has not been so easy to define - until recently! Yes, we've always known that he's the smiley one (why did the nickname Guy Smiley not stick? maybe 'cause Matthew didn't remember that character?) but in the last couple of weeks he's been showing his honest-to-God real-live Sense Of Humor! Two examples:
(1) Both children have started calling me "Mom" instead of "Mommy" for some weird reason. I usually reply "Yes, Aud/Jone?" [because it's one syllable... don't ask.] So this morning, LB says "Hi Mom!" and I respond, "Hey, Jone!" He looks at me and says, "My name is JON-AH!" and I say, "Oops, sorry!" LB looks grins straight at me and says, "It's okay!" and then laughs and laughs and laughs... He thinks he's hilarious.
(2) At dinner tonight, LB started teasing EP. It was really random, but he kept asking her over-n-over, "Do you have to poop?" [So inappropriate, I know!] Anyway, it was like a broken record and he was laughing his lil' hiney off - then he goes, "I can't stop laughing! I can't stop laughing!"
While it may be true that the dude is not ready for a stand up routine [yet], it's really refreshing to see this youngest child branching out from behind his sister's shadow. He hardly ever parrots her any more. He really does have his own personality and thought process. I have nothing more profound to say than, "Whew!"
