My Offspring

Backstory: When I was around 5 or 6 years old, I had a yellow Care Bears suitcase. My parents had a friend who was from Boston. So here's this guy, trying to be nice to his friends' kid, and he asks me about my Care Bears suitcase. Except, he has a Boston accent. So he doesn't pronounce his R's (or something). As the story goes, he says something like, "Is that the caya bayas?" to me and I reply (quite indignantly), "No.. it's the caRe beaRs!" I was, evidently, quite insistent that this adult human being enunciate, for the love of God!

Yesterday, my Dad unearthed the very same Care Bears suitcase and gave it to EP. He was joking around with her, and he said, "Is that the caya bayas?" Can you guess what the child responded?

Yup, she's mine!

As an update to my last post, I'm officially done with school now! My portfolio defense was fine. The two profs actually liked the portfolio as a whole (about which I joked with Matthew that I wasn't sure I wanted a degree from an institution that appreciated such a terrible paper - it was a JOKE!). They did quiz me most about the crappy paper, but not to pick it apart. I'm mostly just glad it's done! And my Last.Paper.Ever (until I go back for my doctorate) was turned in on Friday... but I got an email last night from the professor asking me to revise it. Honestly, I just wanted the B, or the C, or whatever the paper was worth - but I polished it up this morning and resubmitted it. I was awarded an A for my efforts! So, now I'm looking forward to graduation and wearing all $92 worth of my academic regalia - hood and all!

dude, I suck. I didn't even ask how it went. bad. friend. I'll be better at remembering major life events when my children are a bit older. I hope.

I found a picture of my self at Christmas when I was 3 or 4. Guess what I was opening in the picture? A red caRe beaRs suitcase :)
