7 Quick Takes

1) Elizabeth Johnson, CSJ was one of my first theologian-heroes. I distinctly remember traveling to my Campus Minister's motherhouse (she is a Sister of Charity) and having lunch with someone who knew Elizabeth Johnson In The Flesh... and being blown away. I told the woman how enamored I was by one essay I had read by Johnson and the woman goes, "That's great! I'll tell Beth you said so!" I was like, woah. You just called this theologian by her nickname. I want to know theologians that well!

2) Johnson's most recent book, Quest for the Living God is under fire from the USCCB - they cite seven issues the Conference has with the book. I haven't read the book; I'm not going to get into it... but, refer to Quick Take #1 and realize how badly I WANT to read it!

3) Johnson's side of the story: Here's an interview Johnson gave for US Catholic just as the book was coming out in 2007. And America magazine has her "counter-statement" to the USCCB's statement. So there you go.

4) I am super-excited about something.

5) I can't say what it is yet...

6) ..even though it's official.

7) I know I'm a jerk. Sorry! :)

Jen has more Quick Takes for y'all!
